Hangel is a feast of flavor made of specially made thin dough combined with caramelized onions, fresh village yogurt, and delicious butter. Ardahan’s traditional hangel recipe is actually made without meat. However, at Çıldır Lake Taş Konak, we offer both meat and meatless hangel options to appeal to the different tastes of our guests. ‘Kurut’, the traditional flavor of Ardahan, is used in hangel making. Kurut is a kind of dry additive obtained by drying yogurt in summer. This special ingredient determines the unique taste and texture of ‘hangel’ and adds an authentic flavor to it. Prepared using kurut instead of traditional yogurt, hangel reflects the richness of the local culinary culture.
